Abstract

The reported incidence of postoperative right middle lobe torsion following right-sided VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery) lobectomy is very low. However, this study presents four cases of post-VATS right middle lobe torsion that occurred in the space of 12 months at this institution. These cases were reviewed to try to ascertain the aetiology of the pathology and hence determine ways to prevent similar situations occurring in the future.
