Abstract

Abstract: In his introduction to the 2006 Spanish edition of this book entitled Albores de una dinastía: la vida y los tiempos del infante Manuel de Castilla (1234‐1283), Manuel González Jiménez hailed Professor Kinkade’s book as the most significant contribution to the study of the Infante Manuel the Castilla in the last hundred years and stressed the importance of a personality who not only did not have a secondary role but that participated actively in the political life of the second half of the 15th century not only by accumulating a sizeable fiefdom in the Kingdom of Murcia but also by pronouncing in 1282 the sentence against his own brother.
