Abstract

AbstractSolutions of acrylonitrilc/vinyl acetate/α‐methyl styrene copolymers in ctliyletie carbotiii to cvitlencc pseudoplastic behaviour, characterized by viscosity decrease as a function of shear ratc. The newtonian range of the flow curves corresponds with the Ostwald‐de Waelc model, nncl tlic cxtcnt of this domain tleprntls 0 1 1 thc typc of polymer. For polymers with high contcnt of endgroups and lower polydispcrsity the newtoninn tlomein is more extended. The valurs of shear modulusGdecrease with higher contcnt of endgroups in tlic polymer. Relaxation times change in the same direction, which leads to increase of solution elasticity and results in possibilities of incroasing spinning vclocities. Thr apparent activation energy of viscous flow is lower for less polydisperscd copolymers.
