Abstract

To develop a robust communication system in atmospheric turbulent condition subcarrier modulated FSO communication are investigated recently. In this paper an analytical approach is developed to investigate the effect of atmospheric turbulence on BER performance of a RF subcarrier modulated free space optical communication system considering the atmospheric effect under weak turbulent condition which is modeled by lognormal distribution. Analysis is presented to find SNR, BER and power penalty at the output of an optical coherent receiver with a ASK RF subcarrier modulated optical intensity modulator.
