Abstract

Atmospheric Turbulence affects the performance of Free Space Optical (FSO) communication system. It is necessary to model the channel with probability distribution and analyze its performance for various atmospheric turbulence condition. In this paper, we use α-µ distribution for modeling the channel in FSO communication system. Further, we analyze the performance in terms of outage probability and average capacity and compare with other distributions such as Negative Exponential, Gamma-Gamma and Exponentiated Weibull distribution for weak, moderate and strong atmospheric turbulence condition. Simulation results show that outage probability and average capacity over α-µ distribution are better than other distributions in FSO Communication system
