Abstract

Dual band rectifier with high conversion efficiency is designed, fabricated and measured. The rectifier has a high efficiency of 59.8%, 56.3% for two frequency bands of Wi-Fi 2.4 and WiMAX 3.5 GHz respectively at 0 dBm input power. A compact planar monopole antenna is used in order to harvest the ambient waves. The effect of Schottky diode performance on the rectifier efficiency is studied using two different Schottky diodes HSMS2860 and SMS7630 in the design of the half wave rectifier circuit. The maximum efficiency of the single band rectifier circuit using HSMS 2860 is 15%, while the dual band rectifier using SMS 7630 has a maximum efficiency of 42.1% at 2.4 GHz and 42.5% at 3.5 GHz at −10 dBm input power.
