Abstract

Rewritable photon-mode near-field optical recording by the use of an ultra-small light source (diameter ∼100 nm) was performed. Bis(2-methylbenzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)perfluorocyclopentene dispersed in polystyrene and amorphous bis(2,4-dimethyl-5-phenylthiophen-3-yl)perfluorocyclopentene films were used as the recording media. Marks 100 nm in width were recorded on the media by irradiation with 529 nm light, and erased by irradiation with UV light ( 300 nm<λ<400 nm).
