Abstract

The police task is to protect the people and their properties. It is expected that they exercise vigilance while performing their duties. They are the implementers of law. However, police image continues to deteriorate because some of them are involved in criminal acts like drug trafficking, hold-upping, kidnapping, robbery, et al. For this reason, this study was conducted to revisit the work values and morale of selected police officers in the province of Cavite. The specific research questions were: (1) What are the very important work values of the respondents; (2) What is the level of their morale? and (3) Is there a significant relationship between the respondents’ very important work values and their level of morale? The study used descriptive-correlational quantitative research design. It involved 449 selected police officers from the province of Cavite. They were chosen purposively using the following criterion: must have been in the service for three years and above. The study revealed ten very important work values of the police and they had high morale to very high morale. It also revealed that there was a significant relationship between work values and morale. The findings of the study led to the conclusion that the police respondents considered these values as their guiding principle in performing their role as policemen.
