Abstract

Originally published in Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, 1996, Vol 41(4), 393. The Dictionary of Psychological Testing, Assessment, and Treatment (see record 1995-98286-000) provides over 5,000 definitions of key terms from major psychometric and other psychological tests, experimental methods and analyses; statistical procedures commonly used in psychology; categories of mental illness; basic neuroanatomy; commonly used medical terms; and various forms of psychological therapies. Basic terms are defined assuming little background knowledge, and more complex terms contain lengthier definitions assuming some prior knowledge. All of the definitions are cross-referenced so that readers can retrace their steps to more simplified or complex definitions. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
