Abstract

With global economy being integrated, organization is confronting ever-increasing competition, which requires employees in organization work in a spontaneous, active, proactive manner. Therefore it is a new direction in studying organizational management to understand motivating factors of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and exploring measures to motivate exhibition of OCB by employees effectively. From two perspectives of social psychology and organizational behavior, the main literatures on the study of OCB are reviewed. Furthermore, significant motivating variables which influence OCB are recognized and classified, which include individual and situational variables. At last, the limitations in existing studies are analyzed and the further research trends are suggested.
