Abstract
More and more Reverse Engineering Technology is applied in the automobile body design. The 3D point data of some car front doors was obtained through measuring with a 3D scanner. The point clouds data were processed by the professional RE software and the optimal design of the car door was realized. The car door model was manufactured with rapid prototyping equipment. Based on reverse engineering technology and rapid prototyping technology, the illustration of the automobile door's optimal design was provided.
