Abstract

Toy pen holder is analyzed and improved based on reverse engineering and rapid prototyping technology. According to the structural characteristics of the selected toy pen holder, a hand-held laser scanner is utilized to perform the digital information collection arrangement. Combined with the idea of reverse design, the reconstruction of toy pen holder's surface and three-dimension model has been completed based on Imageware and soildworks software. Finally, the prototype of the toy pen model is exported by rapid prototyping technology. The comprehensive application of reverse engineering and rapid prototyping technology can greatly shorten the product's development cycle and effectively improve the product's design efficiency.
