Abstract

In this modern era, maintaining a healthy life for a person is challenging. In Ayurveda four main types of Shodhana (purification) procedures are mentioned i.e., Vamana, Virechana, Asthapana Basti, and Nasya. One of these, known as Nasya, involves the administration of medicine or medicated oil through the nostrils in order to prevent the sickness of the organs above the Urdhva Jatrugata (supraclavicular). Different Ayurvedic texts classify Nasya differently; all forms are used to treat and prevent disease. Pratimarsha Nasya is one of them. Pratimarsha Nasya a type of Snehana Nasya in which two drops of oil is poured in each nostril. It can be given daily, year-round, to all age groups, morning and evening. Ayurveda describes in depth the preventive components of Dincharya (daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Rasayana (rejuvenation), and Yoga (activity). This paper goes into detail about the Pratimarsha Nasya, including the significance of Kala and Paka.
