Investigation by the journal, which was fully examined by all authors, revealed duplicate ratios of spider mass to prey mass, which was often an exact value (e.g., 0.3, followed by 0.33 and 0.34 exactly). Similar anomalies, with redundant predator-prey mass ratios, were also found for other size categories. These anomalies in data collection by Jonathan N. Pruitt could not be explained, undermining the credibility of the article’s results. On this basis, the authors of this statement regretfully retract the article.
