Abstract
• Two new coordination polymers were prepared. • There is antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring metal ions in the two compounds. • Their treatment activity on the chronic renal failure was assessed, and associated mechanism was discussed. Two new coordination polymers based on the transition-metal centers namely, {[Co(L)]•DMF} n ( 1 ) and {[Cu 2 (L) 2 ]•DMF} n ( 2 ) have been established via reaction of a bi-functional ligand 4-{bis(4-benzoic)amino}-4 H -1,2,4-triazole (H 2 L) with corresponding metal salts in a mixed solvent system of DMF and H 2 O. The structural analysis results show that the complex 1 belongs to the P 2 1 2 1 2 1 space group with a (6,6)-connected nia -type net and the complex 2 is locates in the monoclinic space group of P 2 1 / n with a novel (5,5,6,6)-connected network. Magnetic investigations have indicated that there is antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring metal ions in the two compounds. Their treatment activity on the chronic renal failure was assessed, and associated mechanism was discussed. Firstly, the determination of 24-hour urine protein was conducted to evaluate the protective activity of the new compounds. Then, the angiotensinogen expression and the monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) expression in the renal endothelial cells was determined via the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.
