Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a scale that will enable the evaluation of recently updated faculty of education teacher training programs with the perspectives of teacher candidates. In this research, the validity and reliability study of Teacher Training Curriculum Evaluation Scale (TTCES) was conducted which was prepared by considering the structural features of various curriculum evaluation approaches and models widely used in Turkey and in the World. The research data was collected from 363 volunteer teacher candidates from 3rd and 4th grades who study in Akdeniz University Faculty of Education. Exploratory Factor Analysis was used to determine the construct validity of the prepared scale. In order to determine the reliability of the scale, ’Cronbach's Alpha” and ’Spearman-Brown" test scores were calculated. Moreover, Item Total Correlation scores and the results of Independent Samples T Test between the lower 27% and the upper 27% groups were examined for reliability. Cronbach's Alpha and Spearman Brown reliability coefficients for all factors were between .75 and .79. and total correlations of the items included in the scale range from .31 to .68. Moreover, the difference between mean scores of the lower 27% and the upper 27% groups was significant (p <.001). After these analyzes, the draft consisting of 47 items, became a valid and reliable 5-point Likert type scale with 5 factors and 30-items explaining 43.2% of the total variance.
