Abstract

Pediatric patients often present with respiratory distress requiring imaging evaluation. Therefore, for practicing radiologists, clear understanding of an up-to-date knowledge of practical imaging techniques for evaluating pediatric patients with respiratory distress is essential. In addition, familiarity with characteristic imaging appearances of commonly encountered etiologies for respiratory distress in pediatric patients is important. Therefore, the overarching goal of this article is to review the current imaging techniques and imaging findings of commonly encountered congenital and acquired disorders that can result in the respiratory distress in infants and children in daily clinical practice.
