Abstract

A method is presented which would allow the determination of the absolute number density of O atoms in discharge and post-discharge by simultaneous measurements of the number of photoions created from 2 + 1 resonant-enhanced multiphotoionization (REMPI) of atomic oxygen and the LIF (laser-induced fluorescence) from two-photon excitation. The REMPI technique is used in post-discharge, leading to the determination of the number density of O atoms in depletion condition in the interaction volume. The LIF technique is used in the same discharge conditions, allowing then the calibration which would be used to deduce the absolute number density of O atoms in a discharge.
