Abstract

The development of resonant microwave compressors that can be tuned in the working frequency band comparable with the band of a single-mode waveguide is theoretically analyzed. The variants of the multifrequency (broadband) compressors with (i) a 3D storage cavity and an energy-output element based on the waveguide tee and (ii) a symmetric storage system and an energy-input-output element based on the magic tee are considered. The conditions for the creation and the possible characteristics of microwave compressors with discrete sets of working frequencies and quasi-continuous and continuous frequency bands are determined. The prototypes of tunable microwave compressors of the 3-cm-wavelength range are experimentally studied.
