Abstract

Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology represented by the resonant beam charging (RBC) enables convenient charging for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This letter studies a UAV communication network where a short-endurance UAV is deployed to collect data reliably from a group of buoy sensors far off the coast in a three-dimensional (3D) coordinate system. We jointly optimize the UAV's trajectory and the power of the charging station to maximize the overall power transmission efficiency. To attain this goal, we formulate a mixed-integer non-convex optimization problem and then decouple the problem into three sub-problems, which can be iteratively solved by utilizing the inexact block coordinate descent. Simulation results validate the efficiency of our proposed scheme.
