Abstract

Rather accurate data on the dose rate of the residual β radiation in235U exist for the interval 10–5·105 sec; the data can be described by Eq. (3) with an error of up to 5%. Formulas of the type kt−1.2 more or less satisfactorily describe the residual energy liberation for t=10−105 sec. One must assume k=1.4 for β radiation, and k=1.5 for γ radiation. In order to determine the dose rate of the residual energy liberation at exposure times of 60–107 sec, one can recommend Eq. (5). For t<60 sec, Eq. (2) can be employed.
