Abstract

Abstract Evaluations were made in 1980 of the effectiveness of prior applications of granular aldicarb (Temik 10G) on control of aphids in 5 to 8 ft conifers. The conifers were planted in Apr 74 in two-row plots replicated three times. The soil type was a sandy loam. The trees were spaced 3 to 6 ft apart in rows 6 ft wide. One row of each plot received Temik 10G in single bar holes 4 to 6 in deep at the drip line of the trees, and the other row was untreated. The holes were closed with a kick of the heel. Each subplot had three to five trees. The times and rates for the Temik 10G application in grams per tree were: Sep 8’76 - 10; Apr 13’78 - 10’ and Apr 10’79 - 20. No treatment was applied in 1980, On Jun 23’80, aphid injury ratings were made on a scale of 0 to 4, with 0 as no injury and 4 as severe injury.
