Abstract

SUMMARY The authors examine the population of Anthicidae (Coleoptera) at the beach-dune system of Sar Uanle (southern Somalia). Two species, new to science, (Notoxus somalicus and Sapintus bagiuniensis) are described and four species [Endomia tenuicollis (Rossi, 1792); Amblyderus tmncatm La Ferté, 1848; Anthicus biplagiatm La Ferté, 1848 and Sapintus oceanicus (La Ferté, 1848)] are reported new to Somalia. In addition, the zonation and the daily and tidal rhythm of the two most abundant species (Amblyderus sulcithorax Pic, 1898 and A. truncatus) are studied.
