Abstract

Objective To explore anxious emotion in women during the perinatal period. Meth- ods A study on 168 healthy primiparas at 37 to 42 weeks' gestation was conducted. The size of pelvis and fatal status were normal, and the estimated weight of fatuses ranges from 2500g to 4000g. The women expected for vaginal delivery were examined by SAS at 36 weeks' gestation, the beginning of delivery, and three days after labor. The SAS scores and labor phases were compared. Results SAS scores differed significantly. The score was the highest at the beginning of delivery but decreased after labor. The higher the scores, the longer the labor phase. Conclusions Pregnancy and child delivery is an important period for women. Psychological nursing can help the pregnant women go over the delivery period successfully.
