Abstract

Abstract Residual stresses pose a major setback in selective laser melting (SLM) and limit the applicability of the process, particularly because geometry accuracy and mechanical strength are depended on them. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of SLM parameters (laser power, scanning speed, hatch distance) on residual stress, caused by heat gradient, and related distortions and porosity. In this study, residual stress related distortions of cutted ring were observed by method of Birgera-Davidenkova. This method helps to evaluate the distribution of different residual stress components.
