Abstract

Luteolin is an important flavonoid, which has many biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anti-tumor effect. Recent studies have found that luteolin has strong antiviral activity against coxsackie virus, ECHO virus, rotavirus, adenovirus and other viruses, and luteolin also has strong antiviral activity against HBV. Studies have shown that luteolin may affect host factors, such as kinases and transcription factors in host cells, or play an antiviral role through its special structure directly interacting on the virus. However, there is still a lack of research on antiviral effect of luteolin in animals, and the mechanism needs to be further studied. These effects are reviewed in this article. Key words: Flavonoids compounds; Luteolin; Antiviral effect
