Abstract
Background Clinical blood transfusion therapy is gradually changing from liberal transfusion to restrictive transfusion,as well as from empirical to scientific.Objective This paper sums up studies on the safety,effectiveness and limitation of clinical application of restrictive transfusion.Content The comparison between restrictive transfusion and liberal transfusion; the safety of restrictive transfusion; transfusion triggers; indications and limitations.Trend Restrictive transfusion is at least as effective as liberal transfusion and even better.Systemic studies with comparision between different groups of people and different surgeries are needed to enhance this conclusion.
