Abstract
Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is a common skin complication in incontinent patients, which increases patient suffering and medical costs, contributes to infection and affects healing in severe cases. In recent years, there have been increasingly more epidemiological research in IAD. This paper tries to review the progress of the epidemiological characteristics such as the prevalence rate, incidence rate, distribution characteristics and severity characteristics of IAD as well as its risk factors, aiming to enhance Chinese nurses' awareness of IAD and improve prevention and management.
