Abstract
AbstractCongestions on subway platform change periodically with passengers’ periodic arrival during peak hours. And the crowdedness is affected by the proportion of passengers with luggage. To explore how the walking process changes with dimension and weight of the luggage, the social force model (SFM) is improved to simulate the walking process. Firstly, walking behaviors of passengers with various types of luggage are surveyed in Qingdao North Railway Station (QNRS). Based on the analysis of filed survey, desired speeds and walking radii of arrival passengers with various types of luggage are obtained. Then the SFM is modified according to the desired speeds and radii. To verify the modified model, walking processes of arrival passengers from platform to escalator are simulated. The simulation results show that the congestion will occur in front of the escalator with the increase of passengers with small luggage, and walking efficiency will be reduced with the increase of passengers with large luggage.KeywordsSubway platformArrival passengers with luggageModified social force modelWalking efficiencySimulation
