Domestic and foreign scholars have studied on the relationship between railway transportation industry and national economic development with qualitative methods and obtained some useful conclusions. But the quantitative research about the relation of railway transportation industry and national economic development is still a little. In this paper cointegration theory and Granger causality test are used to analyze the quantitative relationship between Chinapsilas railway transportation industry and national economic development. It is found that railway cargo transportation turnover and GDP have the long-term balance relationship. Cointegration relationship between rail passenger transport turnover and GDP does not exist. Railway cargo and passenger transport turnover are the Granger reasons of national economic development.
