Abstract
With the rapid development of information technology, social demands for talents of information also changes continuously, so majors must adjust curriculum system constantly. The cross-discipline of information management provides conditions for applying the structural equation model to analyze the core courses' influence on professional ability. This paper takes Grade 2011 and 2012 students majoring in information management in Wuhan University of Technology as an example, and constructs the structural equation model to research three different types of professional core courses' influence on the students' professional ability, and provides reference and suggestions for schools. The results show that mastering system design course can improve professional ability effectively, but only mastering programming courses cannot improve professional ability significantly. So professional ability must be improved through the way of cultivating practical ability by effective assessment on the computer.
