Abstract
With the large-scale development and utilization of offshore wind power, capacities of every single wind turbine and wind farm are increasing dramatically. Moreover, several wind farms are often constructed along the same wind belt with different gradients, and integrated into the power grid centralized, which the offshore wind farm cluster with capacities of millions or even tens of millions kilowatts is formed. While the wind farm cluster has characteristics of large capacity and certain output spatial coupling with each wind farm, its reactive power fluctuation will sharply deteriorate the bus voltage in some specific regions. Existing reactive power configuration strategy, which takes every single wind farm as its objective and adjusts the reactive power configuration independently, cannot satisfy the requirements for voltage regulation in regional power grids. In this paper with fully considering of the evaluation indices including safety, economy and power quality, reactive power configuration strategy is wholly planned in the real wind farm cluster. With the proposed configuration strategy for reactive power compensations, wind farm cluster is responsible to coordinate reactive power compensations, and plays the role of voltage support in regional power grids. In the real case, overall bus voltage in regional power grids can be improved, and proposed configuration strategy for reactive power compensations is verified.
