Abstract
As one of the English Test for International Communication (ETIC) Testing Centers, we conducted the research on the backwash effect of “ETIC” on college English learning, intending to use tasks designed by “ETIC” construct is in the context of real use English to train the undergraduates' competence to analyze and solve problems, ability to collaborate and express, and simultaneously, we analyzed the positive and negative backwash effect of college English learning. The whole project was completed on the Super-Star Learning App. With the knowledge of the students' actual English communication ability through questionnaires and tests, the author of this paper designed the training tasks according to the “ETIC” construct and released the training task on the platform. Then, the students completed the task and gave feedback to the teacher, who adjusted the next training task according to the feedback of the students. Finally, the statistical results of the two tests before and after the experiment show that the “ETIC” has an obvious positive backwash effect on college English learning, but there are also some negative effects.
