Abstract

The auto semi-axle is the wheel direct driven part and important part of torque transmission, which is with wide variety and a great amount. In this paper, with taking the BJ-130 light semi-axle as example, the new characteristics of rotary forging process, the DW99-160 rotary forging machine and its working principle, blank forming of semi-axle, calculation of forging force and the selection of machine, rotary forging dies, numerical simulation of rotary forging process are introduced, and the comparison of production process, production costs, labor intensity, work piece quality, productivity and the working environment with conventional die forging is done. The conclusion comparing with original process is that the rotary forging process saves material 0.9kg per piece, saves fuel. The process equipments have high automation degree, which reduces labor intensity greatly, improves production efficiency more than 5 times. The semi-axle disc has good Surface quality and consistency of shape and size, especially the coaxial, vertical degree of shape and position error between the cylindrical, internal, external faces and the rod center, achieves a high precision, the yield is up to 99.5%, almost it has no vibration, noise. With a rotary forging process substituting conventional and backward die forging of semi-axle, especially for SMEs, it has an efficient and intensive processing methods, high economic benefits.
