Abstract
In this paper, a power flow calculation method for real bipolar voltage source converter (VSC) based high voltage direct current (HVDC) grid is proposed, which is applicable for the system operating in symmetric mode and asymmetrical mode. An optimization method for the asymmetrical mode is proposed to increase the safety and reliability of the system. The simulation results verify that the power flow calculation method possesses high precision and the optimization method works effectively.
