Abstract

In this study, I analyzed the circumstances behind hosting the Okinawa International Ocean Exposition from the perspectives of postwar Okinawa's energy policy, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry's philosophy on the Expo, and the basic concept of venue planning. We clarified how the Ministry of International Trade and Industry conceived the Aquapolis. We also compared and contrasted the 1) layout plan for the central facilities, 2) technical proposal for the central facilities, 3) pavilion layout method, 4) producer system, and 5) nuclear power generation of this Expo against the Osaka Expo.
