Abstract

In today's social background, people are always willing to pursue a better material life. In choice of marriage, parents and children have different ideas and standards in choosing a spouse, which would lead to parents' intervention in the choice of children's spouse. This paper analyzes and demonstrates the current situation of marriage and love among Chinese youth. It first introduces several ways to find a partner in China and expresses Chinese parents' views on mate selection through literature. By means of interviews with young people in marriageable age and their parents and literature analysis, this paper discusses and demonstrates the dominant role of parents in their children's choice of spouses, and puts forward suggestions on how to properly deal with the problem of parental intervention in the process of marriage.
