Abstract

Aiming at the characteristics of overhead transmission line faults and starting from the research of the fault transient current and features of traveling wave signals of the grounded transmission tower when fault occurs, this paper analyzes non-contact distributed methods of acquiring fault traveling wave signals and then puts forward one. The transient traveling wave signal designed at the earth potential terminal of the transmission line tower allows the quick and accurate acquisition of the fault signal, improving the reliability and accuracy of the fault signal. At the same time, a series of simulation and experimental analysis were carried out. The distributed non-contact fault location method is more flexible than the traditional method and can be used in the field application of overhead transmission lines to improve the fault location accuracy and search efficiency.
