Abstract

This study propose a mesh morphing algorithm driven by pseudo muscle model for 2D cartoon facial expression animation, experiments show that this algorithm can generate real-time and realistic facial expression animation. Furthermore, based on this algorithm we developed an interactive facial expression animation generation system which is suit for developing educational game. Input a cartoon image and follow four steps of modifying related parameters, this system will create a real-time facial expression animation on the image. The system is helpful to improve the quality and speed of educational game development, to decrease the time and economic cost for the artist, and to enhance not only student's interesting but also emotional communication in the virtual learning environment, so it is an useful tool for educational game development.
