Abstract

Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is widely used in the field of electric vehicle (EV). The PMSM should be reasonably designed, which is of great significance to improve the energy consumption economy of EVs. This paper proposes a method for analyzing the efficiency interval distribution of PMSM for EV based on operation data statistics. The data of three models of electric buses are derived from Chinese national monitoring and management platform for new energy vehicles. The collected data regarding the PMSM drive systems were counted and analyzed. According to the evaluation parameter of the efficiency interval distribution of the PMSM drive system, the influence of vehicle curb weight and vehicle driving cycle on the operation efficiency of the PMSM drive system was studied. For an actual vehicle driving cycle, two new PMSMs were designed based on statistical data. In Ansoft Maxwell software, the simulation results of the PMSM model were used to verify the validity of the proposed parameter in evaluating the efficiency interval distribution of PMSM for EV motor design.
