Abstract

The dynamic characteristics of transformer windings under short circuit state are of great significance to the safe operation of transformers. The electromagnetic properties of a 220 kV transformer, including leakage magnetic field and electromagnetic force of windings, are calculated using finite element method (FEM). During the short circuit, the power transformer windings‘ dynamic force, displacement and stress are calculated. The characteristics of windings‘ dynamic motion process because of the big electromagnetic force are analyzed. The analysis method and research results can provide reference for taking measures to enhance the ability to withstand short circuit of transformer windings.
