Abstract

The fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) has broad application prospects in the dynamic calibration on the angular position of the rotary table due to its characteristics of high precision, high bandwidth, and high performance in real time. In this paper, a novel data synchronization (delay compensation) method is proposed to guarantee the data synchronization between the rotary table and the FOG during the process of dynamic calibration. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of this method, it is applied to the FOG and the single-axis rotary table in our laboratory. The experimental results show that the data synchronization can be better than 10 μs by this method. Finally, the FOG is used as the dynamic angle reference to calibrate the angular position of the rotary table. The results confirm that the data synchronization method can fully satisfy the requirements for the dynamic calibration on the angular position of the rotary table.
