Abstract
In recent years, Chinese officials and enterprises have launched a variety of support programs for young creators, and many film festivals now have links to venture capital investment. These initiatives have established an important platform for young creators, who have traditionally struggled to obtain investors for their work. As a result, creators now have more opportunities to connect with investors, enabling them to gain better understanding of current market needs and trends. In this study, we focus mainly on the interest and temperament of venture capital investment and support programs. Specifically, we investigate the three most influential (and recognized) pursuits: 1) the FIRST venture capital investment meeting, 2) the China Film Directors Guild’s (CFDG) Young Director Support Program, and 3) the Shanghai International Film Festival’s venture capital investment project. This research reveals their benign effects, while analyzing any existing and potential problems. Further, it explores more effective and reasonable programs and development trends.
