Abstract

Construction is one of the important sectors of carbon emissions in China. This paper uses the logarithmic mean Divisia index method (LMDI) to decompose the carbon emissions related to the operation of public buildings in China from 2014 to 2019 and establishes a carbon emission decomposition model to calculate the effective value of each factor. The study concluded that electricity and coal are the main energy types for carbon emission growth; the increase in the added value of the tertiary industry is the main growth factor for carbon emissions from public buildings; the energy density effect has an increasing influence on the increase of carbon emissions, while the area effect has a negative effect on the increase of carbon emissions.
