Abstract

The biodegradation of Daqing crude oil in seawater was studied by petroleum-degrading Zoogloea sp. strain SY1 isolated from soil. The results showed its biodegradation rate was 44.5% without nutrients. SY1 can adapt to NaCl concentration, temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen in the seawater. Biodegradation rate was improved by appending nitrogen and phosphorus. Phosphorus, pH, NaCl, and nitrogen were important factors affecting biodegradation. SY1 can be applied to father contamination of crude oil in ocean for its biodegradation capability.
