Abstract

This paper proposes a thermal network model for calculating the modular permanent magnet motor’s temperature rise. Analyzing the actual heat flow path of motor Joule loss and considering the circumferential heat conduction of winding, the local three-dimensional thermal network model of winding is constructed. Based on the model, the motor parts’ steady and dynamic temperature rise is calculated and verified by the FEM. The thermal network model also applies to motors with short winding ends and complex stator yokes.
