Abstract

SUMMARY The purpose of the conducted research is to build a modern digital elevation model of the Zvenyhorod hillfort according to the topographic plan of 2011 and to examine the built DEM for priority areas for the analysis of vertical displacements, combining it with archival cartographic materials. In addition to the 2011 topographic plan at a scale of 1:1000, the input data was the archival map was created by Friedrich von Mieg in the 18th century and the Polish archival map of the 18th century on which the infrastructure of the Zvenyhorod hillfort is displayed. According to the topographic plan, a modern digital elevation model of the object was built and the urban infrastructure was transferred from archival maps. The overlap of the hillfort objects as of the 18th century was analysed and the priority points for the research of vertical displacements of the Earth’s surface were pre-determined, namely the places where the infrastructural objects on the two archival maps coincide. According to the digital elevation model, the places of infrastructural objects of the Zvenyhorod hillfort were analysed from archival maps. It was determined that some objects on the two maps do not match, although the cartographic materials are from the same period. It can be concluded that these objects were applied to one of the cartographic materials by mistake or approximately, since even the generalization of the data does not explain the difference in their location. Priority areas for investigation for vertical displacements are marked of the red and yellow points of objects are applied depending on the priority of further research.
