Abstract

Objective To study the parents' knowledge and care ability of hospitalized children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) , and to provide theoretical basis for family support intervention plan. Methods A total of 85 children and 85 parents, whose children were hospitalized in pediatric department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital for CKD from September 2016 to August 2017, were selected as the study subjects by convenience sampling method. The parents' knowledge and care ability were investigated by questionnaire survey. The results were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 statistical software. Results All the 85 parents' average score was (18.21±3.53) . The score of knowledge about hormone therapy was (0.93±0.13) , which was the highest. By contrast, the average score of diet was (0.51±0.21) , which was the lowest. Conclusions CKD children's patients have certain disease knowledge and care ability, however there is still a lack of critical knowledge of varying degrees. In the implementation of clinical health education, it is necessary to strengthen the knowledge of the children's parents and the improvement of their care ability.
