Abstract
The fluctuation of vehicular speed causes extra fuel consumption. The information of speed fluctuation of all vehicles in a traffic flow can be well reflected by the car-following traffic flow model. It's significant and feasible to research the energy consumption of all vehicles in a traffic flow by using the car-following theory. In this research the authors used the Full Velocity Difference (FVD) car-following model as the foundation to researching the energy consumption of traffic and energy consumption. Dissipation models fitted the FVD model will be established. In order to account for the level of energy dissipation, a concept of ideal energy dissipation ration has been introduced, and a simulation has been conducted. This research lays the foundation of building a complete vehicular energy consumption model.
