Abstract

The phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC), as its name implies, uses phosphoric acid as the electrolyte. Electric power is produced by feeding hydrogen-rich and CO2-containing reformate gas to the anode and air to the cathode. Tolerance for CO2 is one of the characteristic features of PAFCs. Basic technical features of PAFC have been reviewed in Chapter 2.
